Automation / Build with intent
Missed follow-ups are rarely a motivation problem. They are usually a visibility problem: the next action is not recorded when the enquiry arrives.
The workflow
This practical n8n workflow turns a new enquiry into a clear follow-up task:
- Receive the enquiry through a form, email trigger or webhook.
- Normalize the data so every lead has a name, email, source and timestamp.
- Store the lead in the system you already use, such as Airtable, Notion or a spreadsheet.
- Set a follow-up date for 48 hours later.
- Send one internal notification with the next action and a direct link to the record.
Why n8n works well here
n8n makes each step visible. You can inspect the data, add a condition for high-value enquiries and keep a manual review before anything is sent to a client. That is more useful than a workflow that looks impressive but is difficult to explain or repair.
Keep the first version small
- Start with one source of enquiries.
- Use one lead table and one notification channel.
- Add an error branch that tells you when the workflow stops.
- Review the first 10 runs before adding AI or extra integrations.
What to measure
Track how many enquiries receive a follow-up task, how quickly you respond and how many records need manual correction. If those numbers improve, the automation is doing useful work.
Copy-ready starter workflow
Import this small example into n8n, replace the sample lead fields and extend it with your form, database or notification node. It is intentionally simple so you can inspect every step.

Test it manually first. Then replace the manual trigger with your real enquiry source and add one destination at a time.
Libebox principle: choose by fit, not by a score. Automation should make the next action clearer, not hide the process behind more tools.
